It Begs The Question
Hey…I'm just saying… And while we're at it, why are you defending them?

What are the odds? They’re risible! January 9, 2015

Last night I’m reading this book called… what was it?… it’s on the tip of my tongue… Oh yeah! The title is Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything.   I almost forgot.  An Amazon  link is at the end if you’re interested. Anyway, I came across this passage…

“blah blah blah… Anyone who knows the first thing about the respective characteristics of brains and muscles knows how risible that analogy is.  blah blah blah…”

“Risible.” Hmmm. I’ve been around more than a few decades now and not only did I not know the definition, but I had never even heard of “risible” (rhymes with visible).   Oh well, look it up

Then, not more than 2 hours later I am listening to the radio  to    Art Bell – Somewhere In Time   You gotta love Art Bell even if the topics are sometimes goofy.  OK,  a lot of the time.  But regardless, Art Bell is someone you just love to listen to.     Anywho,  an ad was played for a Tampa morning drive-time show… and they say…

“blah blah blah… For everything from the repulsive to the risible, we cover it starting at 5:00 AM every weekday…blah blah blah.”

It was obvious that they were using the word risible for multiple reasons, one of which must have been that it was… well… risible!!!   But still!!!…

What are the odds?

I  mean really!   What are the odds that you’ll go your whole life without ever encountering a particular word and then suddenly run across it twice in less than 2 hours!!??

btw. It was a meteor that brought down MH370.

Link to Amazon for the book mentioned above.  It’s an OK book but not really memorable (pun intended).
